Mastering formats and delivery, explained plainly

Mastering is the last controlled step before Spotify, Bandcamp, or vinyl — not the moment to guess file types. Here is what we deliver, how LUFS targets are agreed, and when a stem master beats a single stereo file.

What our mastering covers

Mastering at Nobodyluno sets loudness, balance, and transitions for your chosen medium — from your mixdown, not from raw multitracks. Per song from €65 incl. 20 % VAT; up to twelve tracks as an album bundle €220. Stem masters at €95 suit film, games, or remix pipelines.

Mix context: mixing and planning your mix budget. Vocals should be comped before master — heavy tuning on the master file is costly and limited.

Default delivery: WAV

Default export is 24-bit PCM WAV; sample rate per project (44.1 kHz for CD-near releases, 48 kHz for video). We master to agreed LUFS targets — usually streaming-range values you name in the brief — not to “loudest possible.” True-peak headroom stays intentional so platform encoders do not clip digitally.

MP3 or FLAC only by request; aggregators often want WAV. Filenames follow your track list. Before release, check once on headphones and once on small speakers.

LUFS, peak, and platforms

Streaming services normalize playback — hyper-loud masters often play back quieter and grittier. We align target LUFS and genre references upfront; two reference tracks with timestamps are enough. If your mix bus is already slammed, headroom shrinks — deliver a clean mixdown without a master limiter when you can.

Podcast or speech targets differ from EDM or metal — tell us the medium. Album consistency (EP or LP) is part of album mastering; fixing one stray song later without context costs extra.

DDP, vinyl, and special formats

CD duplication often wants a DDP image with PQ list — we create it on request for an agreed fee. Vinyl needs cut-specific prep and longer lead times; we coordinate with your plant but do not press records. Purely digital releases usually skip DDP.

Stem masters ship as labelled WAV bundles (drums, bass, music, vocals, or per plan). Define remix rights in your contracts; technically we split and name stems clearly.

Handoff: download, drives, retention

Primary delivery is encrypted download links. Bring USB or SSD if you prefer — pickup during Mon–Fri 10–20, Sat 10–16 at Lerchenfelder Straße 14. We retain masters and related mix references 24 months, then delete per privacy policy — keep local and label backups.

No open public folders; B2B jobs with personal speech in podcast masters may need a data processing agreement. Questions: [email protected] or contact.

Revisions and limits

Mastering includes up to 2 feedback rounds when LUFS targets and references were in the brief. “Completely different vibe” after approval is a new pass — adjust mix and re-master. Deposit 30 % on first orders; quotes usually within 2 business days.

We do not promise chart placement or playlist adds — only files that match the agreed spec. Liability: disclaimer; contract frame terms.

Typical mix-to-master path

  1. Deliver final mixdown WAV with headroom
  2. Brief: medium, references, album sequence
  3. Listen to master preview — in room or via file
  4. Batch revision notes, written approval
  5. Download final WAV (+ optional formats)

Releasing podcast and music in parallel? Separate folders — LUFS targets differ. Capture starts at podcast production; room tips in podcast room basics.
